And Here's What I Did With Madame Butterfly......

I don't usually like matchy-matchy, but I love all the drama going on here! I also found out I like the So Saffron and Old Olive Cardstock with the new designer paper coming out next month. I also like using our Crimper (I call it the Corrugator!) to make borders in place of ribbon. The little Sizzlits 4-Pack Die set called Lots of Tags makes the neatest tags. You can see two of them on this card. I working on taking better photos!

SNEAK A PEEK!

Here is a sneak peek of the new Designer Series Paper release and new frame stamp set coming from Stampin' Up! in their new catalog! It seems to me like a mix of tropical and vintage linen prints which I LOVE!

I have used only one sheet of paper in both of these cards...the paper is double sided prints, of course, so more punch for your buck!

I know the second card is kind of a "quiet" card for me, but it reminds me so much of a faded linen tablecloth we had when I was growing up so it made me "quiet" as I made it....thinking of old memories.

I am showing two of the frames in the new stamp set...there are a total of four and I will show more later. The greeting inside the frame is from two other stamp collections already available with Stampin' Up. On my way to Brandon for a Girl's Weekend so will be back with more pics on Monday! Have a great weekend!

LAST MONTH to get the Free BLISS Stamp Set with Purchase!

This is one of my favorite sets and it is only available free with a minimum purchase of $50.00 during Sale-A-Bration which ENDS March 31, 2011. I will be so sad to see this one go and feel like it just might be a collectable set in the future.

Here I've used it in an accordian fold card and teamed it up with the Free Hostess Stamp Set Punch Potpourri. All these images were stamp with FREE stamps except for the music notes and that could be free, too, with Hostess bucks! I used Old Olive Ink (#102277, P166), Soft Suede (#115318, P169), Old Olive (#100702, P166) and So Saffron (#105118, P167) Cardstock and my Music Notes Wheel (#120327, P125) with Standard Handle (#102971, P193). So easy and room for greetings and journaling on the card inserts! The circles were made with our Circles #2 Die (#114526, P213) for my Big Shot (#113439, P204) and the rest of the elements were cut by hand. I tied a piece of Linen Thread (#104199, P190) around the birds neck to add more texture and then inked the edges of all the elements with Soft Suede Ink (#115657, P169) and a sponge (#101610, P195) to give it some aging. If you need dimensions of the cuts, just convo me and I will be glad to share!

It's Baby Girl Week at the Studio!

I have done THREE Baby Girl cards and one album over the last couple of weeks....the females are TAKING OVER! LOL.

I found this interesting as I usually don't work in pinks and was actually surprised by all the pink papers and cardstock I had to work with! This is just a show and tell photo set as I don't have time to post the list of all the supplies I used on these. I may be back to edit this later with the list of supplies.....or maybe not! Any questions, give me a shout out! Thank you!

Quick and Easy Bookmark

I saw this design at our monthly Demonstrators Meeting and knew immediately who I wanted to make one for! It has become one of my favorite gifts to make as it is quick and easy, but looks like a million bucks! I used my new Fun Flowers Die for my Big Shot to cut out the flower petals (Occasions Mini Catalog good until April 30, 2011, #121812, P39). I used Blushing Bride Cardstock (#119796, P165) and then inked each petal with Riding Hood Red Ink (#111836, P168) and sponge (#101610, P195) to give it depth. Lighten up the ink as you move towards the center and some of the edges of each petal.

I used a Certainly Celery Button from the Subtles Designer Buttons collection (#119745, P186) tied with linen thread (#104199, P190) and Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon (#117288, P191) for the sash even though the sample I saw used grosgrain ribbon. Any ribbon would work actually!

The little tag I tied onto the button was made by punching Blushing Bride Cardstock with our Jewelry Tag Medium Punch (#117190, P202) and then stamping with one of the stamps from our Tiny Tags stamp set (#118592, P130) in Riding Hood Red Ink.

To finish off the opposite end of the ribbon, I punched a scallop circle using our 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Extra-Large Punch (#118874, P200) out of our Love Letter Designer Series Paper (#117162, P173). Then using our Big Shot Circles#2 Die (#114526, P213), I cut the largest circle from Our First Edition Designer Series Paper also in the Occasiona Mini Catalog (#121878, P25).

You could also use our 1 3/4" Circle Extra-Large Punch (#119850, P202) and the 1 3/8" Circle Large Punch (#119860, P202) if you have them. The circles won't be as large, but they would work fine with the size of the ribbon. Make a bunch for all those friends who always have their nose tucked in a book.....Such a conversation piece!

Bird Is the Word!

Notice how the punched border looks like piano keys! This is accomplished by using the Spiral Border Punch (#119872, P.200) on a strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock (#101650, P169) and cutting the front of the Early Espresso Cardstock base (#119686, P169) shorter than the back of the card.

The music notes are created with the standard wheel (#120327, P219) which is my FAVORITE WHEEL from Stampin' Up! Don't forget to order the handle like I did. (#102971, P193) as it doesn't look the same trying to roll it around using your fingers! Got THAT T-shirt! I used one of the new IN COLOR inks called Peach Parfait (#119783, P165) to match the piece of Peach Parfait Cardstock (#119794, P165) I used behind the Very Vanilla Cardstock to create a frame.

The stamped word BIRD is created using the Broadsheet Alphabet (#120585, P159) Clear Stamp Set...another of my FAVORITES! Line them up on a Clear-Mount Block E or larger (#118484, P192) and stamp them all at the same time or if you have the Wood Mount Stamps, use your Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement (#101049, P198). I used Old Olive Ink (#102277, P166). Place a Basic Rhinestone (#119246, P188) above the "I" for a pop of glitz.

The Bird itself is from the Free Hostess Set, Punch Potpourri, and is one of the choices for an order of only $150.00! I can tell you how to get your friends together for a catalog party to reach this goal or if you are like me, you can reach that amount all by yourself! The set comes with a fabulous butterfly, heart and flower stamp, too. Take a look at it (P10)! I stamped the bird in Early Espresso Ink (#119670, P169) on Very Vanilla Cardstock and then cut it out leaving a small border around the stamped image.

I did all the shading with Soft Suede Ink (#115657, P169) and a sponge (#101610, P195).

The flower you see in the upper right hand corner is actually one of my Ooh-La-La decorated clothespins I use for hanging display items and clip on gift bags, ribbon, banners, etc. It is made using the new Fun Flowers Bigz L Die for the Big Shot (#121812). It can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog on P39 until April 30, 2011 along with the First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper (#121878) found on P25. The Pumpkin Pie colored button in the center is from Stampin' Up!'s Brights Designer Button Collection (#119747, P186) and is tied with Linen Thread (#104199, P190), both in the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog. Glue it on to a clothespin you can get anywhere! I use the Stampin' Up! Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430, P197) to attach it to the clothespin as they are super strong and they set the flower up off the clothespin to add depth. And you get 300 of them so they last a long time!

Give this one a try!

MY NEW BLOG!
